We’re Hojicha Lab – a small, women-led London start-up on a mission to give Britain’s tea-lovers a new kind of comfort. Our roasted green tea is slow-fire-crafted in the hills of Kyoto, then packed in planet-kind pouches and delivered straight to your letterbox. The result? A smoky-caramel brew with ~80 % less caffeine than coffee and none of matcha’s grassy bitterness – perfect for a calm evening Netflix sesh or a gentle morning boost.

Our Origin Story (A 90-Second Read)

1. Serendipity in Uji: While backpacking through Japan, our founder — Hanna, a half-Japanese, half-Yorkshire foodie — ducked into a tiny Kyoto tea bar to escape the summer rain. One sip of the toasty amber liquid and she knew the UK’s tea aisle was missing something magic.

2. The Late-Night Experiment: Back home, we roasted sample batches in a cast-iron wok at 2 a.m., chasing that same “campfire-meets-caramel” aroma. Friends begged for refills; TikTokers started asking where to buy it.

3. Hojicha Lab Was Born: We partnered with a 3rd-generation Kyoto roaster, built eco-friendly packaging that fits Royal Mail’s Large-Letter slot (less carbon, lower shipping), and opened our online store seven days later.
