FAQs

What is Hojicha?

Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea. By gently roasting the leaves (originally in Kyoto’s Uji region), the chlorophyll turns a warm chestnut brown, swapping grassy “green-tea” notes for cosy, nutty-caramel flavours. Think “matcha’s calm, toasty cousin.”

How does it taste compared to matcha or coffee?

  • Flavour: Light like tea, but with a comforting roasted depth.
  • Mouthfeel: Light like tea, but with a comforting roasted depth.
  • After-taste: Naturally sweet, so most people skip extra sugar.

Fans describe it as “a hug in a mug”—all the aroma of fresh-ground coffee, none of the jitters.

Does Hojicha contain caffeine?

Yes, but it’s low caffeine—about 8–12 mg per cup (coffee averages 95 mg). Perfect for late-afternoon focus or an evening wind-down.

Where is your tea grown and roasted?

Our current lots are single-origin Uji, Kyoto. Local artisans slow-roast small batches in drum roasters that date back generations, then we pack them here in the UK for maximum freshness.

Is it organic and additive-free?

Absolutely. 100 % Camellia sinensis leaves—no flavourings, sugars or fillers. Certified organic at source and packed in a SALSA-approved UK facility.

How do I make a hojicha latte?

Whisk 2 tsp powder with a splash of hot water, then top with 200 ml steamed or iced milk (oat works wonders). Done in 30 seconds, barista-quality crema guaranteed.

Shelf life & storage

Best-before is 12 months from roast. Keep the pouch resealed, cool and dry—think cupboard, not fridge. Aroma locked; flavour lasts.

Where do you ship?

UK: FREE delivery on ALL orders. Arrives 2–3 working days.

EU & USA: Delivery costs £1.99. Arrives in 5-7 working days.

Do you accept returns?

Yes—no questions asked.

I have allergies - any concerns?
